Speaker: Sandra Dunn
Our thanks to Sandy for sharing her thoughts on Cuba. Sandy has been to Cuba 40 times, the most recent in Jan 2017. Her first visit was as a volunteer interpreter for an Aid Group that went to Cuba 17 years ago. She has seen many changes since her first trip.

Communication is now available to communicate outside of Cuba. Although Socialism still prevails which basically equalizes people with regard to wealth, free medical care, education and a sense of community, there are those in the tourism industry who make more money because of tips and increasing taxi prices. Everyone living in Cuba has food and shelter. There are currently two forms of currency in Cuba..Cuban Pesos, used by Cubans and Cuban Convertible Peso, used by tourists. Tourists can only use the tourist Peso and 10% from the exchange goes to Cuba.
